For several years now I’ve been running creative writing groups for children under twelve and teens.
I currently run regular workshops for these two age groups at the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh, on alternate Saturdays. For more information check the SPL website. If you’re interested in booking a place in one of these groups, please do get in touch. Workshops are 2 hours long, and have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. All writing levels are welcome, we don’t care at all about spelling and grammar, and nobody has to share their work unless they feel comfortable. The aim is to relax and enjoy making art together. In previous sessions we’ve recorded podcasts, written poems and stories, performed plays, and made comics. We’ve had field trips to art galleries, museums and the great outdoors for inspiration. The cost is £10 per workshop per child, though there are a number of free spaces available for those who need it – if you feel this applies to you just let me know and I’ll make sure you get a place, no questions asked.
I also do storytelling sessions with movement and/or crafts. Storytelling is usually folklore-based, and I specialise in LGBT+ family stories and activities.
